Youth to learn artillery drills at Civil War fort

Youth ages 7 to 11 can participate in artillery drills at Fort C.F. Smith Park in Arlington on Sunday, July 10 at noon.

Participants will learn about the different types of artillery in use during the Civil War, and practice the steps to load and aim a replica cannon.

In addition the Civil War Visitor Center at the park will be open from 10 a.m. to noon; youth can try on replica Civil War uniforms and learn about camp life.

The park is located at 2411 24th Street North. To register for the artillery event, see the Department of Parks and Recreation portion of the county government’s Website at https://arlingtonva.us.
