On March 15 at 5:10 p.m., officers responded to the magistrate’s office in the 2000 block of 15th Street North for warrant service, police said.
Upon arrival, an officer met with the suspect and attempted to take her into custody on an outstanding warrant. According to police, the suspect became disorderly, threatened the officer and resisted arrest, attempting to strike the officer.
With the assistance of additional officers, the suspect was taken into custody. The first officer sustained injuries described as minor and did not require treatment.
The suspect – 21-year-old Johniece Marquez of the District of Columbia was charged with assault-and-battery on police and obstruction of justice, and was served with the outstanding warrant for eluding.
