Must Read

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on May 11 celebrated “511 Day” to mark 20 years of providing Virginia 511 to Virginia residents and travelers.

The no-cost 511 telephone service provides real-time travel information 24/7, including incidents, construction, road conditions and live-stream traffic cameras. VDOT also provides a 511 Website, 511virginia.org, and a mobile app, VDOT 511 Virginia Traffic, which is available for both Android and iOS devices.

Since 2002, there have been 25 million phone calls to Virginia 511, 33 million 511virginia.org Website sessions, 18 million VDOT 511 Virginia Traffic mobile-app sessions, 800,000 VDOT 511 Virginia Traffic mobile-app downloads and 84 million Virginia 511 alerts via e-mail, text and app.
