The Vienna Volunteer Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association to celebrate the centennial of Fire Prevention Week with a special event on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, 400 Center St., S.

The 2022 theme is “Fire Won’t Wait: Plan Your Escape.”

“It’s important for everyone to plan and practice a home fire escape,” said Vienna Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Morrison. “Given that everyone’s home is different, every home fire-escape plan will also be different.”

“Have a plan for everyone in the home,” Morrison said. “Children, older adults and people with disabilities may need assistance to wake up and get out. Make sure that someone will help them.”
