Vienna Town Council members on March 7 voted 7-0 to accept $63,047 in Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, which will be used to provide relief to some residents who are behind in their municipal-utility payments.

Town officials will use the moneys, which will be passed to the town via Fairfax County, to assist residents who were in utility-payment arrears for more than 60 days during the height of the pandemic between March 12, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2021.

Town staff estimate about 50 families will qualify for such aid, said Deputy Finance Director Michelle Pagano-Dierkes.
