The Fairfax County Tree Commission is soliciting nominations for the 2022 “Friends of Trees Award,” with a deadline of July 31.
The annual awards are given to individuals and organizations for demonstrating outstanding conservation-based actions in preserving, protecting or planting trees by doing at least one of the following:
• Protect and preserve existing trees and associated habitats.
• Increase Fairfax County’s tree canopy and related habitats.
• Educate and inspire people to plant more trees and properly maintain them, and convey an understanding of both the value and benefits of trees.
• Go “above and beyond” Fairfax County requirements as developers to either preserve or protect trees and associated habitats, or both.
Nomination categories include individual; non-profit organization or business; for-profit company; and development community.
Honorees will be announced later this year.
