On Feb. 25 at 10:50 p.m., Arlington police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 15th Street South at Richmond Highway. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle did not have a valid license.

During an inventory of the vehicle prior to towing, officers recovered a firearm that was determined to be stolen, as well as an expanded magazine, police said.

The suspect – 28-year-old Kelvin Hamlett of the District of Columbia – was arrested and charged with receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, driving without a license and operation of a motor vehicle with improper registration. He was held without bond.
