Twelve members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s Technical Rescue Operations Team recently participated in the Virginia Rescue Challenge in the Richmond area.
Twelve teams from around the region completed two technical-rescue scenarios per day for four days. The scenarios included a trench collapse, rope rescue, tower rescue, structural collapse, heavy rigging and a confined-space rescue.
These scenarios were designed to test each team’s fundamental skill-sets, team dynamics and overall competence in their specialties. Evaluators commended the county team’s performance.
Next year, the Virginia Rescue Challenge will be hosted in Northern Virginia.
