The McLean Highlanders host the Madison Warhawks at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the championship game of the 6D North Region girls high-school softball tournament.
Both teams have played well all season, and each has been scoring many runs in recent days. McLean won the recent Liberty District tournament, while Madison finished first in the Concorde District tourney.
Neither team really has a shutdown pitcher who strikes out a lot of batters. At least not yet in their young high-school careers.
McLean and Madison are very both good hitting teams. So the outcome could be a high-scoring 12-10 final score or something like that, maybe with each squad having double-digit hits.
Don’t expect the contest to be quickly played, either. The game starts at6:30 p.m. and could take three hours or so to finish.
It’s hard to predict a winner. Maybe the team that performs the best defensively will win.
So we’ll see what happens tonight.
