Mike Jreige has an idea that may eventually become reality for Vienna Little League.
The baseball organization held its opening-day ceremony on Saturday, April 16, about two weeks after the season actually began with a full schedule of baseball games. The ceremony included all kinds of events, attracted many, including numerous politicians, many recognitions and there was a lot on the plate that day. But it was not opening day, in Jreige’s mind.
Jreige is the league’s president. His idea is to no longer call the Saturday ceremony opening day. Instead, maybe it could be called Vienna Little League Day or something. With opening day for games actually being two weeks earlier, Jreige thinks the name change would be appropriate, and not a bit misleading as is the case now. Traditionally, opening day for leagues tend to coincide with first games.
The official name might stay the same, but it’s a thought and a idea the league president has, and that makes sense.
We’ll see what happens.
