The semifinals are set for the 6D North Region girls and boys high-school basketball tournaments.
The games are tonight at 7 p.m. at four different sites, unfortunately. In the old days, the region tournaments were set up so anyone wanting to see all four games easily could.
That’s because the girls and boys semifinals were played on different nights and at neutral sites. One game would begin at 6 p.m. followed by the second at 8 p.m., both at the same venue. The setup would be repeated the next evening for either the girls or boys. The crowds were large with great atmospheres.
But not now, again unfortunately. Now, the region tournament schedule makers either don’t have enough vision to duplicate that wonderful setup of the past, don’t care to make the effort to do so, or are too closed minded, with none of the three reasons making any since.
Unfortunately, with the way the semifinals are set up now, high-school basketball fans wanting to see all four games in person, can only see one.
That’s really way too bad and cheats those fans of interest big time.
Maybe the shortsighted and spectator-cheating region semifinal situation will be fixed next year, hopefully, and returned to past ways.
Fingers crossed someone is reading and cares.
