In coming days, the Sun Gazette will publish online and in the newspaper its 2021 sports year-in-reviews for our coverage editions in Arlington and Fairfax County.
The stories will rank the top 20 or 25 events, with No. 1, of course, being the biggest story.
Overall, a lot certainly happened in sports in those coverage areas during those 12 months, despite the various issues with COVID.
There were so many, district, region and state high-school championships won by teams and individuals from those coverage areas, it was a challenge to keep track of them all. There also were outstanding accomplishments in non-high-school sports.
