It’s strange to be talking high-school football playoffs just four games into a regular season.
But since the campaign has been reduced to just six contests and delayed from the normal fall time frame because of the pandemic, after four games would be like after eight during a usual 10-contest regular season.
So after eight games, playoff discussions would certainly be taking place. So now the same occurs after four. The percentages work.
That being, local teams in the Sun Gazette’s coverage areas in the postseason hunt entering game five are the undefeated Madison Warhawks (4-0), the 3-1 McLean Highlanders and the 2-1 Wakefield Warriors.
Four teams make the 6D North Region Tournament playoffs based on Virginia High School League power points.
We’ll see what happens in two weeks and which, if any teams, advance.
