Those daily sports calendars, many including a neat fact of the day and birthdays of famous sports stars, are the best.
For sports fans, it’s fun to take a look at the info every day to see what is what and what was what.
For example, today, Jan. 7, is the birthday of Johnny Mize, Tony Conigliaro, Alvin Dark and Lamar Jackson to list a few.
Looking back a couple of days, Jan. 5, 1920 was the date the Yankees purchased 24-year-old Babe Ruth from the Red Sox for $125,000, beginning the now defunct “Curse of the Bambino.”
Peeking forward just a bit, and some don’t like to do that with such sports calendars, Jan. 14 was the date the Miami Dolphins capped their perfect 17-0 season with a 14-7 win over the then Washington Redskins in the Super Bowl.
All great stuff and great reads. And it’s all there on a daily sports calendar. Much fun.
