Wow. Friday night, Feb. 18 was an outstanding and memorable evening for some four varsity high-school sports teams in Arlington.
At about the same time at different venues, the Yorktown High School girls and Washington-Liberty High boys basketball teams hosted and won Liberty District tournament championship games.
The title was Yorktown’s first in history. For the W-L boys, the crown was its first since 2001. Both significant accomplishments, as the teams gathered behind championship banners to take celebration photos.
Miles away in an indoor swimming pool in Stafford a little later that evening, the Yorktown girls finished second and the boys third in the Virginia High School League’s Class 6 state swim and dive championships.
A memorable night of achievements for sure for Arlington teams.
A night to remember.
