Serious softball
The competition is serious stuff throughout the popular Northern Virginia Senior Softball League seasons.
Currently the fall campaign is ongoing through pretty much the end of October or so, with playoffs taking place. The players run and play hard, and many are quite talented in the slowpitch league. And they can hit the ball.
This isn’t recess or family-picnic softball for sure.
Plus, the teams play a bunch of games.
The first-place Great Falls Red of the Continental Conference had played 24 games with a 19-5 mark when the week began. Most teams have played 24 games or so.
Teams don’t just play once or twice a week, then rest up. The men and women players go at it, playing multiple early-morning contests per week.
It’s all serious competition.
