A couple of early-season high-school neighborhood rivalry games are on tap in Arlington tonight in baseball and girls softball when the Washington-Liberty Generals host the Yorktown Patriots in the two sports along Quincy Street.
That’s weather permitting, of course, or depending on field conditions. The baseball game could be moved to Barcorft Park.
In baseball, W-L has a 2-1 overall record and 1-0 mark in the Liberty District. Yorktown is 1-2, 0-1.
The Generals haven’t beaten Yorktown in a few games, so the game will have even extra meaning.
In softball, Washington-Liberty is the defending 6D North Region champion, giving Yorktown added incentive.
Each game has the potential to be close and competitive.
We’ll see what happens.
