Sports Notebook: Result reversals

Must Read

Throw out their second football game this season because the Yorktown Patriots always blow out Wilson.

But the other two contests so far this fall have been result reversals for the high-school team. Will this trend continue in week four, when Yorktown plays the host Oakton Cougars tonight at 7 p.m.? Time will tell.

Last season Yorktown won its first game against the Langley Saxons, 19-14, then lost to the Liberty District rival in the opener this fall, 34-28. Then in game three this year against the Madison Warhawks, Yorktown won, 14-11, after getting blown out, 41-0, a year ago in the third week.

In week four of 2021, Yorktown lost to Oakton in Arlington, 30-28. The teams meet tonight in Vienna. Will Oakton win again, or will Yorktown continue the result reversal trend?

Each team has 2-1 records.

We’ll see what happens.
