It’s pool weather outside now, and neighborhood outdoor swimming pools were the proof of that this past weekend, as the venues were open for business. With the weather hot and sunny, many pools were crowded for the first weekend of summer.
Next at those pools, practices will begin quickly for the summer swimming and diving seasons, usually with afternoon practices until school is out in the coming days. Then, some will be held in the mornings.
The Northern Virginia Swimming League swim season begins on Saturday morning, June 18 with 9 a.m. meets. The NVSL diving season starts with evening meets on Tuesday, June 21. So there isn’t much time to prepare.
Other local swim and diving leagues also start about the same time.
So starting this past weekend, neighborhood outdoor swimming pools will be quite busy with many activities for the next three months, until most, unfortunately, shut down on Labor Day Weekend.
Enjoy while the fun lasts.
