As far as state competitions, this weekend and next are the busiest of the winter high-school sports season for public-school teams and individuals.
There are Virginia High School League Class 6 state championships in four different sports being held – girls gymnastics, indoor track and field, swimming and diving and wrestling. None of the competitions are within the Beltway region.
Gymnastics is in Leesburg, swimming and diving in Stafford and wrestling and track and field in Virginia Beach.
Wish some of those state competition venues were closer, which used to often be the case in past years, but not anymore during the winter season.

So it’s road-trip time to see Class 6 state events this year.
