If the information is properly kept during games, and unfortunately it’s not sometimes, those big new high-school scoreboards for girls and boys basketball games have so much to reveal.
The score is the one thing that is always kept. But now it’s possible to tabulate and have displayed the point and personal foul totals on each of the 10 players in the game.
If a player leaves the game, their totals are replaced by their substitute. Then the totals reappear when the player returns.
Those two totals are the biggest additions to the scoreboards, and can be very helpful for those involved in and have a big rooting interest in the games.
It takes work and concentration to correctly keep such information, and for those schools that do so during games, that’s much appreciated. For those who don’t, please learn how from those who do.
