How about a shout out to McLean Post 270 for a strong playoff run in district and state American Legion baseball tournaments after finishing the regular season with just four wins.
Post 270 was the fourth seed in the District 17 tournament and won two games in the event to finish fourth.
McLean still advanced to the state-wide tournament because other teams that qualified dropped out. In the state, McLean was 2-1 after three games, despite missing some key players – another strong postseason showing.
McLean manager Keith Horenstein said all season that his team is better than its record, especially when the best players are all present for games. For many games, though, some of the team’s top players missed multiple contests for various and typical summer reasons.
“When everyone is here, we are pretty good,” Horenstein said.
Even not, Post 270 still had a strong state-tournament showing.
