George Mason University is in the market to hire a new men’s basketball coach.
The perfect hire would be Wakefield High School graduate Kenya Hunter, a standout basketball player when he played for the Warriors of Arlington decades ago.
Hunter went on to have a standout Division I college playing career at Duquesne University.
After college, he has been an 18-year valuable and top Division I assistant coach for seven different bigtime programs, including Georgetown, North Carolina State, Nebraska, the University of Connecticut and most recently, Indiana.
Hunter has certainly paid his dues as an assistant, knows the country and college and high-school basketball circuits better than most, and has a super-strong reputation as an outstanding recruiter.
Now, it’s time for a Division I program to hire Hunter as the No. 1 coach. And why not right here at George Mason, in Northern Virginia, an area Hunter knows all so well? It would be a great homecoming.
So how about it, George Mason. Give Kenya Hunter that deserved opportunity.
