Sports Notebook: Many impressive records

Must Read

The low scores – team and individual – the super talented Langley High School golf team has been posting in recent seasons are ridiculous, breaking records all the time in winning district, region and state tournaments.

In the recent 6D North Region Tournament, Langley won with a low 279 team score, breaking its old 18-hole region record of 281.

Langley’s highest score in that round was 78, an impressive score by a high-school golfer anytime. But at Langley, a 78 isn’t all that hot anymore. Two players carded under-par 67s in the region, another shot 71, and the other two 74 and 78. The Saxons won by 37 shots over second-place Yorktown.

The 67s tied for low individual honors. If not for a sloppy triple bogey, the player who shot 71 would have been in the 60s as well.

The region title was Langley’s fourth in a row. Next week the Saxons will try to win a fifth straight state crown.

We’ll see if the team sets any more records in that competition. It’s likely.
