Sports Notebook: Homestand

Must Read

In one of those rare weekends that happens maybe once every two seasons or so, all four varsity high-school football teams in Arlington have home games.

On Friday night, Oct. 8, the Wakefield Warriors, Washington-Liberty Generals and Yorktown Patriots all host 7 p.m. public-school contests against Liberty District rivals.

Then on Saturday at noon, also in Arlington, the private-school Bishop O’Connell Knights host St. Mary’s Ryken, which also will be a league contest.

What would be even more rare is if all four home teams win on the same weekend. It doesn’t happen often when all four county teams win the same week, whether home or away. To record four victories, while all at home no less, would really by something special.

We’ll see what happens.
