Sports Notebook: Full steam ahead

Must Read

Spring breaks are now over for the Arlington and Fairfax county school systems. That means as far as high-school varsity sports schedules, the busy time is ahead as far as district competition.

There is no more time off or breaks in the skeds. Saturdays could become a big makeup date for earlier postponements.

Teams will be playing two or three games or matches a week for the next few weeks to conclude regular-season play. Hopefully, the weather cooperates, but the week didn’t begin well with Monday’s day-long rain that postponed numerous games and matches and practices.

As a result, some baseball teams will play games on three straight nights, beginning this evening, weather and field conditions permitting.
