Sports Notebook: From all over

Must Read

One of the best things about the Virginia High School League’s state basketball tournament championship games played March 10, 11 and 12 at the Siegel Center in Richmond were the teams that came from all over different parts of the state, not just from here in Northern Virginia.

So in what part of Virginia are public high schools Buffalo Gap, Auburn, Honaker, Cave Spring, King’s Fork, Central Wise? And yes there still is a Washington & Lee High School. All neat names. All of those schools, some girls and some boys, played in state title games at the Siegel Center.

Those schools aren’t familiar to some of us in Northern Virginia. So it was fun to look up and find out where they are from. Yes Virginia is a pretty expansive state.

Those games were all possible to watch streamed on the Internet, and many did just that across the state.

The same thing occurs at other VHSL state tournaments throughout the school year, where teams and individuals from all over gather in one spot.

It’s kind of a neat state geography lesson, really.
