Sports Notebook: Different agendas

Must Read

Ever watch what some of the student football spectators are doing at high-school games? No, not those squeezed tightly together in the student section of the bleachers wearing creative theme outfits, waving banners and cheering enthusiastically for their team from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.

It’s those not in that section, the often younger-age students, who are pretty much unsupervised running about in other non-bleacher areas of the football stadium venue doing whatever, but certainly not watching the game at all. Younger non-high-school-age kids are included in that group.

They might be chasing each other, throwing a Frisbee or football, socializing and flirting big time, just milling about near the concessions stand, or off on a side field doing whatever, anything but watching the game. That’s not the case at all high-school football games, but certainly many.

Basically, they attend to be part of what they see as a social event and happening, but arrived with no interest in watching the game, instead having a different agenda by running about and doing whatever.

Different strokes for different folks.
