Must Read

It’s always interesting to check how some former local high-school athletes from the Sun Gazette’s coverage areas are performing on the college level in the different sports. There are players from all levels in various sports.

One player is Wakefield High School graduate and former boys basketball standout Alan Treakle. The guard is a member of the Division II University of Mount Olive men’s hoop team now, and recently scored a career-high 41 points in a college game. That’s noteworthy for sure.

Another player is Yorktown High School graduate Grant Wilson, a backup quarterback for the Fordham University football team. Wilson has played in three games this fall, completing 6 of 8 passes for 52 yards.

At Hampton University and Boston University, Enas Nigatu and Liz Shean are members of the women’s basketball teams, respectively. Each has played in a couple of games so far, with Shean scoring 13 points and Nigatu two.

Those are just a few of the college players. The Sun Gazette will have updates on those players and others from time to time.
