Here’s a tip to those planning to attend any high-school games or events in coming days, or even weeks.
Check the status of the action before making the trip.
With COVID outbreaks soaring, games and events are being canceled or postponed all over.
Multiple high-school basketball games scheduled for Dec. 17 were not played as a result of various COVID issues. Some didn’t find out about the postponements until they arrived on site to find no games. We wish the schools would do a much better job of updating their Web and athletic Twitter sites with those changes.
Some schools don’t provide any updates. A game is canceled and it’s still listed as being played. There is no excuse for that, especially now with so many changes happening because of the rising COVID infections everywhere.
So again, check before heading out. If not, empty parking lots and gyms might be found on arrival.
