For now, that brown grass currently much visible on many local baseball fields eventually will turn green in coming days once the growing season fully begins. That brown grass isn’t dead. Just kind of looks that way.
That’s the case every year at this time. The grass on fields isn’t yet fully mature and is a bit thin and clumpy. But games have to be played on those surfaces anyhow.
The field at Yorktown High School was totally brown and is starting to change. It will be fully thick with all green grass in coming days and will be one of the best-looking surfaces anywhere in the area.
Just as the play of some high-school teams improve as the season goes on, so does the condition of the infield and outfield grass on those surfaces.
So keep watching.
