The summer still has a good ways to go and it’s already been another successful campaign for various baseball teams and programs in Arlington.
For years, Arlington teams have enjoyed high levels of playoff success on the diamonds, especially in Babe Ruth ball, where a couple of teams in recent summers advanced to the World Series.
This summer, Arlington Storm squads of ages 12 and under recently won five Babe Ruth district-tournament championships, and two more already have won state crowns, as well, with more state events yet to begin. Those two state champions are now bound for regional competition.
The Arlington National Little League Intermediate All-Stars won a district tourney and are state bound in a couple of days.
In American Legion Arlington Post 139 baseball squad currently is in second place in the District 17 standings and appears to be a top contender to repeat as tournament champions.
Also, some Arlington residents are playing well in a Northern Virginia college baseball league.
We’ll see what happens the rest of the day.
