As Babe Ruth baseball leagues continue to dwindle in size, and in some case totally disappear and fold across the U.S., the Arlington Babe Ruth and older-age (13 and above) Arlington Senior Babe Ruth programs continue to thrive and excel.
The 2022 summer season recently concluded for Arlington’s Babe Ruth all-star teams at different age levels with much success, as has been the case for many years now.
At the lower age levels, multiple Arlington Storm teams won district-tournament titles, then two won state crowns, as well, to advance to region competitions, where each finished 2-2.
The Arlington Senior Babe Ruth 13 and 14 all-star squads each won district tournaments, then finished 2-2 at states. Both were eliminated with one-run losses.
The Arlington programs have figured out an effective way to successfully co-exist by working with the now much more popular summer and sometimes year-round travel baseball. Meanwhile, other Babe Ruth Leagues either have not made the same attempts, choosing to continue going at things alone, and are disappearing, as a result.
That’s sad and too bad.
Good for Arlington for continue to find a way.
