School has been in session for less than a month and the high-school golf season will be over this week for many teams and players that are members of public-school teams across the state.
This week, district tournaments are being held. The top two or three teams and other individual players in the Concorde and Liberty events advance to next week’s 6D North Region tourney. For the rest, the fall season will be over.
That was quick. Maybe some of those golfers can now join other fall teams. They certainly will have the time.
The public-school fall high-school golf season actually begins the first week of August, so the players have been involved in competition for a while, but still less than two months. The private-school fall season lasts a few weeks longer. But even that campaign is over in October.
The seasons aren’t that long in the first place and end early because the teams only play a few regular-season matches, followed by the playoffs.
The high-school golf season is the shortest for any of the many sports teams.
