Sports Notebook: A peek ahead

Must Read

The fall high-school sports season still has a number of weeks remaining, but a peek ahead to the upcoming winter campaign reveals that girls and boys basketball games begin Tuesday night, Nov. 30, at least for public-school teams.

That’s not very far away at all.

A popular neighborhood doubleheader kicks off the season for the Madison Warhawks and Marshall Statesmen that night of Nov. 30. The girls teams tip-off first at 5:45 p.m., followed by the boys contest.

The Wakefield High boys play at Colonial Forge on Nov. 30.

A number of other teams don’t begin until Dec. 3, including the Langley Saxons squads, playing the Oakton Cougars.

All of the other winter public-school sports begin about the same time – wrestling and swimming and diving, to name a couple.

Those start times aren’t far away at all.
