The Madison High School football stadium certainly has proven to be quite the winning venue for a couple of home teams during recent action.
Between the Madison football and girls field hockey squads on that field in 6D North Region Tournament play, the teams combined for a 5-0 record in winning the championships in recent days.
The football team went 2-0 on that surface in semifinal and championship games, winning the title the night of April 16. The very next evening, the girls field hockey squad won the region crown on the Norman F. Bradford Jr. Stadium artificial setup, and was 3-0 there in its three region-tournament outings.
The undefeated Madison football team (8-0) now hosts a state-tournament semifinal on that same field this coming weekend against South County, another undefeated squad at 8-0.
The field hockey team will not host a state-tournament match.
We’ll see if those friendly Madison confines can keep producing victories, at least for the football team.
