Senior Olympics gearing up for full slate in 2022

Must Read

Plans remain in place to mark the 40th anniversary of the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics with a schedule of events Sept. 10-23 at a variety of venues across the region.

The annual competition was canceled in 2020 and returned in a reduced format in 2021.

“We are hoping to reinstate as many events as we safely can that were canceled last year due to COVID concerns,” said Herb Levitan, who chairs the organizing committee.

Northern Virginia Senior Olympics is open to those age 50 and older in participating jurisdictions. The registration fee of $20 includes participation in an unlimited number of events (additional fees are required for a few events, including golf, tenpin bowling, cycling and orienteering).

Previous participants will receive information on registration in late June, and volunteers are being sought to support the initiative.
