•• Duncan Hartt of Vienna earned a doctor of medicine degree, Ryan Racinez of Vienna earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and Jessica Snyder of McLean earned a bachelor of science degree in economics with an emphasis on statistical analysis during recent commencement exercises at the University of Utah.

•• Connor Geshan of Oakton earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering/mechatronics, cum laude, during recent commencement exercises at Western New England University.

•• Carter Govan of McLean earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting and politics; James Walton of McLean earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics; Kooseung Chung of McLean earned a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience; and Emma Satterfield of Vienna earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting during recent commencement exercises at Washington and Lee University.

•• Adam Crist of Vienna earned an associate of science degree in paralegal studies during recent commencement exercises at Roger Williams College.

•• John Bellaschi of McLean, Amanda Mitchell of Oakton, Krishna Sardana of Vienna, Yash Shekar of Vienna and Katherine Vietmeyer of Oakton earned faculty honors and Thomas Edelmann of Vienna, Solomon Hutchins of Vienna and Cecilia Remy of Vienna have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).

•• Marisa Almazan, the daughter of Claudia Estevez of Vienna and a graduate of George C. Marshall High School; Peter Guma, the son of Alex Guma and Karen Detweiler of Vienna and a graduate of George C. Marshall High School; and Alison Mirani, the daughter of Viraj and Jeannie Mirani of Vienna and a graduate of George C. Marshall High School have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Dickinson College.

•• Joseph Horsfield of McLean has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Kalamazoo College.

•• Helen Frazier of Vienna has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Emory & Henry College.

•• The latest batch of Fairfax County Public Schools students have been named National Merit Scholarship recipients.

– William Graf of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology (undecided), National Merit Bowdoin College Scholarship.

– Hai Lun Bian of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology (computer science), National Merit University of Maryland Scholarship.

– John Kim of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology (computer science), National Merit University of Maryland Scholarship.

– Arjun Jagdeesh of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology (medicine), National Merit Virginia Commonwealth University Scholarship.
– Nathaniel Garcia of McLean High School (psychology), National Merit Pomona College Scholarship.

– Kelvin Yan of McLean High School (computer science), National Merit University of Florida Scholarship.

College-sponsored Merit Scholarships provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

Nationwide, more than 7,200 students have won Merit Scholarship awards in 2022. This is the final group of scholarship recipients for the class of 2022.
