** Jane Carskaddan of Great Falls, a graduate of Langley High School; Isabel Luposello of McLean, a graduate of the Madeira School; Samantha Giuntini of Oakton, a graduate of Flint Hill School; Charles Mathews of Vienna, a graduate of George C. Marshall High School; Samantha Sporn of McLean, a graduate of the Madeira School; Elizabeth Isacson of McLean, a graduate of the Madeira School; Hadley Pade of McLean, a graduate of St. Albans School; Connor Deagle of Great Falls, a graduate of Sidwell Friends School; Sohee Kim of McLean, a graduate of McLean High School; and Bayley McDermott of McLean, a graduate of Langley High School have been named to the dean’s list with distinction for the fall semester at Colgate University.
** Fiona Barber of Great Falls, a graduate of Langley High School; Zhaokang Deng of Vienna; and Charles Tourbaf of McLean, a graduate of Langley High School have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Colgate University.
** Randall Brown of Vienna, a student at the University of Maryland Global Campus; Laney Moy of McLean, a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and Ryan Kiser of Great Falls, a student at Virginia Tech have been inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
Also inducted were Marymount University students Tala Jarrah of Dunn Loring, Bethany Chirico of Vienna and Emma Driscoll of Vienna.
** Sarita O’Neill of McLean earned second place in the freshman/sophomore category at the College of William & Mary Libraries Undergraduate Research Awards competition.
O’Neill’s paper was “Fertility Trends and the Rising Costs of Children.”
The awards committee praised the varied use of scholarly sources and topical sources, including statistical data.
** Anton Kopti II of McLean, a computer-science major at Bridgewater College, has received funding for a summer-research project at the college.
Kopti will work with Dr. Verne Leininger on “A Compendium of Exact Sums of Infinite Series.” His participating was funded by the Research Experience @ Bridgewater.
** Campbell Collins of McLean has been named to the honor roll for the second trimester at Williston Northampton School.
