Reopening of Metro stations delayed until November

Must Read

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has announced plans to extend the closure of six Metro stations south of Ronald Reagan National Airport due to delays related to construction of the new Potomac Yard station.

The announcement came three weeks before stations had been scheduled to reopen.

Work to tie-in new tracks to the station, which was slated to conclude on Oct. 22, will now end on Nov. 5. Free shuttle-bus service will continue to be available to riders through the extension.

Metro officials also announced that the new Potomac Yard station will not open this calendar year, which agency officials said was due to the contractor’s failure to meet the delivery timetable.
