Police work to mediate dispute between driver, runner at W&OD Trail

A local resident told Vienna police on Nov. 9 at 9:45 a.m. that he had been running on the Washington & Old Dominion Regional Trail near Dominion Road and Ayr Hill Avenue, N.E., when a driver almost struck him.

The complainant yelled some words at the driver and the driver later confronted the runner and allegedly assaulted him, police said.
The driver fled the scene but was later identified by the officer investigating the case.

Police advised the complainant of the process for obtaining an assault warrant.
