On March 10 at 3:34 p.m., police responded to the 2100 block of Washington Boulevard for a report of a fight that had started as a verbal dispute on a bus and escalated into a physical altercation.
During the incident, the suspect brandished a knife and struck the victim, who then deployed pepper spray in an attempt to stop the attack, police said.
The victim sustained what were described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a local hospital. The suspect sustained injuries described as minor, and was treated by medics on the scene, police said.
The suspect – 46-year-old Marvin Mullins of Arlington – was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.
