News of crime and punishment across Arlington.


** On Sept. 8 at 3:50 p.m., a juvenile was walking in the area of North Nottingham Street at Washington Boulevard when she observed a man sitting in his parked vehicle, masturbating.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old. The vehicle is described as a blue or gray Jeep with Maryland tags.

** On Sept. 9 at 6:20 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of South Eads Street, where they located an individual with his genitals exposed and allegedly masturbating.

Officers took the suspect – 65-year-old John Hickerson of no fixed address – and charged him with indecent exposure and public masturbation. He also was charged with identity theft after allegedly providing police with false identifying information.


** On Sept. 4 at 1:16 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1200 block of North Irving Street for a report of a breaking-and-entering in progress.
Based on information provided by dispatch, arriving officers located one of the suspects in the area and took him into custody without incident. A second suspect was not located.

The first suspect – 20-year-old Michael Mutz of Arlington – was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and drunk in public. There is no description for the second suspect.

** On Sept. 4 at 2:30 a.m., residents of the 400 block of North Fillmore Street were awakened by a ringing of their doorbell.

At around 9 a.m., the victims observed that the screen to the back porch had been damaged and removed from its track.

** On Sept. 7 at 2:30 p.m., an individual returned to his home in the 4100 block of 3rd Road North after an extended period of time, and noticed his furniture missing while also finding personal items that did not belong to him, police said.

At around 11:56 p.m., an unknown male attempted to gain entry to the residence. Upon being verbally confronted by the victim, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’4.

** On Sept. 8 at 9:05 p.m., a resident was inside his home in the 5200 block of 8th Road South when he heard noise and determined that the window to the residence had been shattered with a rock.

A second window had its screen cut open.


** Sometime between Sept. 2 at 10:30 p.m. and Sept. 3 at 9:52 a.m., approximately four vehicles were ransacked in the 2300 block of Arlington Ridge Road and the 1200 block of Oakcrest Road.

A variety of tools and personal items were reported taken.
