News of crime and punishment across Arlington.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING:

** On Jan. 29 at 8:10 p.m., an individual entered a business in the 2500 block of 9th Road South, approached the victim and began a verbal dispute, police said.

During the incident, the suspect allegedly broke a glass bottle and began physically assaulting the victim, cutting him with a piece of glass before fleeing on foot.

The suspect was located nearby and was taken into custody. Charles Baxter, 34, of Silver Spring, was arrested, charged with malicious wounding and was held without bond.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

** On Jan. 29 at 10:27 p.m., an individual was inside an establishment in the 2500 block of Columbia Pike when he was asked to leave, police said.
The individual refused and was physically escorted out by security staff, allegedly being shoved to the ground, causing injury, police said.

Medics transported the individual to a local hospital for treatment of injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

The suspect – 35-year-old Antuan Black of Alexandria – was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

ROBBERY:

** On Jan. 29 at 2:33 p.m., a man entered a business in the 1100 block of South Joyce Street and began concealing merchandise in a bag, police said.
An employee confronted the suspect, who struck the employee in the arm before fleeing with the merchandise.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall with a skinny build.

BRANDISHING:

** On Jan. 29 at 1:25 p.m., individuals were attempting to exit a parking lot in the 1400 block of South Joyce Street when another individual allegedly began yelling at them, brandishing a firearm and banging it against the side of his vehicle before leaving.

Responding officers located the suspect vehicle and, shortly after, located the suspect at his home.

The suspect – 22-year-old Keoni Lewis of Arlington – was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm.

BURGLARY/UNLAWFUL ENTRY:

** Sometime between Jan. 17 and Jan. 31, a home in the 200 block of North Thomas Street was burglarized. Electronics, firearms and ammunition were taken.

** On Jan. 24 at 2:57 p.m., police were alerted to a residential burglary in the 5900 block of 2nd Street South.

Two sets of doors had been tampered with and opened, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

** On Jan. 26 at 11:45 a.m., a woman was inside her apartment in the 5700 block of Washington Boulevard when a man knocked on her door, police said.

When the resident opened the door, the suspect forced his way inside and grabbed the victim by the arm. The resident fled the apartment and the suspect locked himself inside.

Responding officers took the suspect – 39-year-old Nathaniel Warren – into custody without incident. He was arrested and charged with burglary.

** On Jan. 28 at 9 a.m., an employee of a hotel in the 1200 block of North Courthouse Road entered a room that was supposed to be vacant but contained a man inside.

** On Jan. 31 between 7:30 a.m. and 7:24 p.m., a residence in the 700 block of South Courthouse Road was burglarized. Personal items, electronics, jewelry and cash were taken.

** On Jan. 31 at 5:46 p.m., residents of the 1000 block of 26th Street South returned home to find that the back doors of the home had been opened and items not belonging to them were left behind.

** On Feb. 2 at 2:14 p.m., a resident of the 1200 block of North Quinn Street reported that his home had been burglarized. Cash and items were taken.

LARCENY FROM AUTO:

** Sometime between Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. and Jan. 23 at 1:23 p.m., tires and rims were stolen from four vehicles in the 2100 block of Richmond Highway.
