Pair of brandishing incidents reported over past week

Arlington County police reported two brandishing incidents over the past week:

• On July 8 at 1 p.m., occupants of two vehicles had become involved in a traffic dispute while traveling on Arlington Boulevard, at which time the passenger in one vehicle allegedly displayed what was believed to have been a handgun, Arlington police said.

Arriving officers located the two vehicles and stopped them, arresting one of the occupants.

The suspect – 21-year-old Manuel Rivas of Falls Church – was arrested and charged with one count of brandishing and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• On July 8 at 2:57 p.m., two individuals became involved in a number of verbal disputes while in a residential building in the 700 block of South Dickerson Street, and during one of them, one of the parties allegedly displayed a handgun.

Arriving officers identified the involved parties; the investigation is ongoing.
