March 7 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for nominations to the 2022 Women of Vision Awards, presented annually by the Arlington Commission on the Status of Women.
“These awards honor women for their accomplishments and contributions to improving the lives and opportunities for Arlington residents, especially females,” the commission said.
Nominees must live, work or volunteer in Arlington and “demonstrate a strong commitment to women’s issues and have, over time, developed and communicated their vision for women and engaged community members and other leaders in order to realize this vision.”
Nomination categories are “Community Compassion,” “Business,” “Non-Profits” and “Government/Politics.”
Nomination forms are available on the Arlington government Website at www.arlingtonva.us. or at bit.ly/wov2022. Awards are slated to be presented on Wednesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at the offices of Arlington Economic Development.
The awards program was inaugurated in 1988 as the Person of Vision Award, open to both men and women (although the only man to ever receive it was one-time school Superintendent Arthur Gosling). A decade later, it was rechristened the Women of Vision Award.
