The John M. Langston Citizens Association has set a weekend’s worth of activities to celebrate its 85th anniversary, running May 13-15.
The association represents residents in the communities of Halls Hill and High View Park, straddling what long was known as Lee Highway but has been renamed Langston Boulevard both in honor of the civic association and the 19th-century Virginia lawmaker whose name the association bears.
Opening ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 13 at 6 p.m. at the Langston-Brown Recreation Center, 2121 North Culpepper St. On Saturday, there will be a walking tour beginning at the center at 11 a.m., followed by a family fun day at High View Park Playground, 1945 North Dinwiddie St.
On Sunday, there will be a gospel performance at 3 p.m. at High View Park Playground.
The community is invited to all events. For information, e-mail email@example.com.
