Historian looks at experiences of ancestor in segregated military

Must Read

Arlington civic leader, historian and author Dr. Alfred Taylor Jr. will discuss and sign his new book – “Following the Trail of Trooper Alfred Pride” – on Saturday, June 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3412 22nd St. South.

The book is written from the perspective of Dr. Taylor’s great-grandfather, who served in the Buffalo Soldiers (9th and 10th Cavalry) from 1865 until his retirement in 1893 at Fort Myer.

“It depicts how he and his fellow troopers served as patriots despite all of the racism, false promises and other atrocities they had to overcome,” the author said.

Copies of the book are available for purchase at www.bookbaby.com.
