Must Read

A number of local students have received scholarships from the Hispanic Leadership Alliance, a group of Fairfax County Public Schools employees.

In the Sun Gazette coverage area, Alielyx Aponte Ceneno of George C. Marshall High School received the Latinos Unidos Club Scholarship; Geidy Felipes Garcia of Marshall earned the Sonia Rosa Véler Memorial Scholarship; and Alexa García García of Marshall received the Humberto Moore Cruz Memorial Scholarship.

“I couldn’t help but think what a better place this world will be with these young leaders fulfilling their potential,” said Teddi Predaris, a retired educator who is active with the alliance, which presented scholarships to 26 students on May 3.

“It was amazing to hear the diversity of areas they will go into,” Predaris said.
