A public-health nurse in Alexandria and the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) have been named recipients of the 2021 Equality Awards, to be bestowed by the Arlington-Alexandria Gay & Lesbian Alliance at the organization’s upcoming holiday party.
Debbie Dimon is being honored for her work as a leader in both the public health and local LGBTQ community, including working HIV/AIDS services into existing care management and representing the Alexandria Health Department at the regional level. During the COVID pandemic, she has held key roles in case and contact containment and mitigation strategies.
AFAC is being honored for its dedication to providing those in need in the community with healthy food options while maintaining the dignity of the individual.
The 2021 AGLA Equality Awards will be presented during the organizaton’s annual meeting/holiday party on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Arlington Hilton Garden Inn.
